Feeling hot…
If you’re wondering how I’ve managed to write so much today, and update the blog with several things (that I’ve been meaning to do for ages) then look no further. The answer is simple: it is hot outside.Extremely hot to be precise. Actually, to be precise, it is around 45 C. That is hot. Going outside is like entering a sauna, as the hairdryer breeze actually does nothing to cool the body, even in the shade.
So, as a result, I’m indoors, tinkering with the blog, making it more supercool, and beginning the awesome competition that I’m sure will be a great success (if not, I’ll get an Apple Iphone to keep to myself
).
Anyhow, experiencing such temperature reminded me of some crappy feature that Richard and Judy droned on about in one of their marginally less forgettable tv shows…
It was a moderately warm day. Hot, by British standards, but nothing compared to the sweatbox that I’m experiencing here in Melbourne this afternoon. Richard and Judy decided to see whether or not they could indeed “fry an egg” on a car bonnet. It was classic tv. BAFTAs all round would have been the least they might have expected.
Basically, some pseudo-italiano chef with a comical accent cracked a couple of eggs onto a car bonnet which had been sitting in direct sunlight. We, the audience, watched, with bated breath, as the eggs steadily ran towards the lowest point. Despite the “chef” pushing the eggs back towards where he wanted them, they kept on running.
We returned to see whether the eggs had cooked on a few occasions during the Richard & Judy show, but there was no sign of anything that could be described as “frying” or even “having been fried”. Regardless, Richard, ever the optimist enthused “ah, yes, look, there it’s going white!” as the eggs again dribbled away towards the edge of the bonnet. The camera quickly cut away and nothing was said about it again… ever.
Until now.
