How to get to Mecca for the Hajj
In order to get to Mecca for the Hajj, you will almost certainly have to fly from a major airport to Jeddah airport in Saudi Arabia. It is possible to make the journey by sea, but flights are much quicker, cheaper and are serviced by some of the world’s major carriers. This year’s Hajj will be from 6th – 11th December 2008. Return flights to Jeddah are available for under £600.
All pilgrims must have a valid visa to enter the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In the UK these are dealt with by a number of UK-based, Saudi approved, travel agents who will present documents on your behalf. For the list, please click here.

On the Air France, Canadian site, there are flights between London (UK) and Jeddah for CAD $627 one way.
Expedia
The best deals so far for the UK with return flights under £600 with Swiss International Airlines.
Economy Travel
For those of you from the USA, Economy Travel take bookings for return flights to Jeddah via Vienna from London in the Hajj period for around $1146. So, if you’re in the UK but need to use a US bank account, why not book online through an American agent?
Last Minute .com
Lastminute.com’s best return deals to Jeddah form London are under £700. Their searches include Egypt Air, Swiss airlines and Austrian airlines, who all seem to do very reasonable deals during the Hajj period.
KLM
At around £800, return flights between London and Jeddah are not the cheapest through KLM. However, KLM is a large, respected carrier with a good reputation and excellent facilities. Click here for the KLM website
