Paula Radcliffe Puts Her Eggs in One Basket

Paula Radcliffe going for marathon gold at BeijingAfter the failed attempt to bag the 10,000m and marathon together at the Athens Olympics in 2004, Paula Radcliffe is this year attempting to win the marathon gold only. Despite an stress fracture of the femur sustained earlier this year, Radcliffe is listed on the Great British Team.

The athletes are currently preparing in Macau and Radcliffe will be heading there shortly. However, UK Athletics are willing to wait for Radcliffe to decide whether to compete. Hayley Haining would replace Radcliffe in the event that she pulls out of the marathon event.

If she goes ahead, Paula Radcliffe will be competing with fellow Brits Mara Yamauchi and Liz Yelling for the women’s marathon gold on 17th August 2008 between 7.30 and 11.20.
