Susan Boyle - Flying Higher than a 47 year old 'Geordie Racer'

Susan Boyle, the unlikely star who’s a ‘never been kissed’ forty-something from a quiet town in Scotland, shot to fame this week after an appearence on reality TV show Britain’s Got Talent.

Its looking increasingly likely that the people of the world will show their love of Ms Boyle by making her performance on the ITV show the biggest ever video on internet site YouTube, knocking previous incumbents “Charlie Bit My Finger” and the oh-so-hilarious ‘racist funny-man doing an impression of a dead Arab terrorist with a puppet which is essentially just him making a hacking noise over and over and over again’, into last week.

So, Susan Boyle is a phenomenon, but once we have all got over the fact that she’s just a little bit ugly, and we’ve finished being shocked and stunned by the fact she’s never been kissed, will we really, as a society, change our musical habits so much? Will we roll back the years to a point where everyone enjoys once more listening to technically able singers, singing good old fashioned pleasant songs? Well – whatever your opinion might be – now you can bet on it!

Paddy Power, Irish bookmakers, are offering odds on various events which might befall Susan Boyle – she’s pretty certain to win Britain’s Got Talent – the bookmakers make her 1-3 (which means if you put three pounds on, you will win one back were she to win) for that event, however, they have opened a special Susan Boyle Specials market already, which features the following quite superb betting opportunities!

  • Susan Boyle to perform on American Idol in 2009 – 9/4
  • Susan Boyle to top the US Hot 100 Billboard Charts in 2009 – 3/1

To bet on any of these quite crazy markets (ok the first ones are reasonable!) click here to visit Paddy Power and search for “Susan Boyle” – find the ‘Susan Boyle Specials’ market.

One has to wonder, however, what price the bookmakers would have offered just 7 or 8 days ago on a 47 year old virgin from a quiet Scottish town, who no-one has heard of, winning a Grammy in 2010: its 1/100 that you’d have got better odds!
