Here’s another question that a lot of people who purchase advertising on the internet – particularly those who use Google Adwords – will want to know the answer to: how long does it take for Google Adwrods ads to begin sending traffic to my website?

Well the answer, you’ll be happy to learn, is not very long at all. Almost immediately, in fact, Google Adwords ads can begin displaying.

You may not receive “traffic” straight away – unless you have written compelling words (or pictures) that get people to actually click on your ads

However, note that Adwords stats are a little delayed – you won’t see the exact stats until quite a while after the first displays and clicks have been coming through.

If you use Analytics – yes, I know, another Google product, no, I don’t work for them – you will be able to flick over to the “Real Time” overview page and see people flowing in, though, if you’re keen on seeing your impact right away.

Socialize Feature in Feedburner Has Disappeared – Gone!

I went onto Feedburner today to put the “Socialize” feature onto a blog I run, because I’ve been having problems with an automatic Tweet solution I had installed, only to discover that the Socialize feature had vanished from my options.

This may or may not be the same for everybody, but I checked my other accounts and they were still feeding to Twitter as they should via this very service, so it appeared as though the service was not gone, just the option under the Publicize tab.

So, what to do?

Well, I looked at the URL on my Google Feedburner, and saw that it had the following structure:

http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/publicize?id=[SOMELETTERSANDNUMBERS!]

So all I did was change the URL, manually, by hand to the following (taking care to leave the string of letters and numbers – as that relates to my actual feed!):

http://feedburner.google.com/fb/a/socialize?id=[SOMELETTERSANDNUMBERS!]

I have put the bit I changed in the above example into bold text. In case you can’t see it, I replaced the bit that said “publicize” with the text “socialize”. Luckily for us, the people who made Google Feedburner, used a sensible URL structure, containing actual words here.

This allowed me to set up the Socialize feature on this feed – which was, in fact, a brand new feed taken from a WordPress category – so it definitely works!

Reflections of Life Blogs

As you by now are probably aware, I am something of an addict to checking what people are reading on this blog.

One of the ways I keep on top of what people are interacting with, and how they are discovering it, is by monitoring the search engine words and phrases that are bringing visitors to this website.

Today I noticed an interesting phrase that had delivered just one, solitary, search engine visitor to this website: “reflections of life blog“.

This person must have been looking for other people who, like me, post blogs about their lives.

When I ran “reflections of life blog” through Google’s search engine, I was surprised, and just a little delighted, that this website showed up on the second page of results.

This is probably because my blog’s tag line is “Short Stories and Reflections on Life, from Joseph Elliot.”

Which brings me to today’s point. I have not been posting many – read any – short stories. In fact, I have not posted any short stories since launching this website!

That is not because I have not been writing, oh no, au contraire, it’s because I’ve been writing too much. So much, in fact, that I have not had time to produce any short stories that are of sufficiently high standard for me to want to put them out for your free enjoyment on this website.

So I’m sorry, but you’ll just have to wait a little while for that!

For now, however, you must content yourself with my reflections on life, or, more appropriately, my reflections on search engine phrases people have used to deliver themselves to those reflections…Similar Posts:

Sometimes you just have to say, what the heck, that seems like a weird thing, maybe its just a freak occurance.

I mean, honestly, is anyone on the internet really searching around on Google, Yahoo and Bing for “nigerian enterprise intergration of information system proposal”???
