TechCrunch Giving WordPress 2.5 Thumbs Down?

I was having a look at the technical blogging leviathan that is TechCrunch this evening and I thought I’d check out what their WP code looked like.

A technical blog written primarily about Web 2.0 (does anyone still use that phrase??) and the general state and direction of the media world should have, I would think, the most up-to-date, well maintained, and generally kick-ass website of all. The blog of blogs. Given that TechCrunch is powered by WordPress (as, indeed are most of our 24 Hour Trading products), one would expect that their install should have the best theme, the greatest plugins… the latest version?

No.

Apparently, it appears as though TechCrunch has taken the decision not to upgrade to 2.5 – they are running WP 2.3.3. Why? Is this an oversight? A lack of time? Or something more malevolent? Are TechCrunch really saying they don’t want to switch to the latest and greatest version of WordPress? Could it be over for the caped crusaders?

Answers on a postcard please.
