The Highest Rated Amazon UK Book? Harry Potter – in Chinese!
While I was heavily re-shaping our books portal this week, I decided to see what was the highest consumer rated book on Amazon UK. An interesting question, thought I, and one which was sure to turn up an interesting result.
Interesting, yes, but not for its variety, all of the top ten are Harry Potter books.
The number one book on Amazon UK? Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban – Chinese Edition – so its not even in English!
Come on people of Britain: we need to read more variety, even if our grasp of foreign language is commendable.

Actually, I am amazed at the variety of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban books there are – over 36 different ways to buy the same piece of text. Incredible displays!
There is, a Sticker Colouring Book, an Adult Edition (with swearing and sex???), an Unabridged Edition, an Unabridged Audio Edition, a Celebratory Edition (celebrating the number of editions??), A children’s (??) Edition, A Colouring (with Paint Pots) Edition, a Complete and Unabridged Edition, A Large Print Edition, a special Edition, a reprint of the Adult Edition, a Paperback, a Hardback, an Audio Cassette Edition, an Audio CD Edition, An Adult Audio CD Edition, and, a Chinese Edition. Forgive me if I missed or glossed over a few…
Also, in America, it would seem, they much prefer The Sorcerers Stone as a read, though they too have Harry Potter at the top 3 – have a look American Amazon Top Ten Consumer Rated Books
And I still have not read a Potter book, save for Beatrix of that ilk!
