The Weirdest Thing I’ve Ever Seen

Saturday 3rd January 2009 in West Witton, North Yorkshire, we were walking home from the village at 1:15am and saw an orange orb floating upwards from South-West to North. It was about 60ft above our heads to begin with before rising hundreds of feet and disappearing from view into the clouds. We heard a high pitched noise which may or may not have been related to the object. But it was definitely an Unidentified Flying Object. It was smaller than a plane or helicopter and moving at a steady rate upwards and Northwards. It had a glow like candlelight but was not like a candle-powered hot air balloon (it is easy to make these). There were four of us watching it and this picture was taken when the object was approximately 400ft in the air above us. The area is in an MOD flying zone with frequent fighter jet sorties. Could it be the MOD’s latest weapon?ufo_oneufo_two Here are two pictures cropped right down. The camera or the object may have been shaking to make these shapes but you can see the glow. We have nicknamed it “the G”.

    Spooky…..

  2. Hi

Interesting in as much as there have been some videos and images released in recent years that capture objects making symbols as the ones are above. Look at the case of Dorothy Izatt – either search google or there is a long video on the UK site. Also the Stephensville Texas object was recorded doing this.

As you say – in your case – the object could have been moving or the camera – you need a tripod and fast shutter speed to find out [not handy in these situations of course!].

    Thanks for the report.

  3. [...] was one of the four people Linda stated who saw “The Weirdest Thing I Have Ever Seen” on the early hours of Saturday 3rd January 2009 – luckily our friend had her camera and [...]

  4. I saw the same thing over Barnsley S Yorkshire on Sunday 4th Jan 2009. a orange ball travelling south in a perfectly straight line.
I saw it in the sky while driving and it was bright and weird enough to make me pull up and stop to take a look.
It moved quickly across the sky probably within 3-4 minutes then suddenly stopped still for a while then carried on on the same path.
I did not think much of it at the time , i just thought it was weird but then after looking online loads of people have seen these.

  5. I saw this tonight. 08/03/10 09:50hrs over the sky in Harrogate. I quickly ran in for my 5mp camera phone and got a rather poor video of the firey ball. It seemed much larger in real life and unfortuntely only a small dot on the phones video. I stopped the video and got a quick photo which when you zoom in on it you can see it turn from a dot to a curious disk shape. Ive seen this before on Xmas day 2008 18:57- 18:58 and got just 1 photo then too. What does this mean, if it is military then why keep it secret, if its a real ufo then Nasa/USA must be tracking these so why is nothing official being shared with the public. It did not appear to travel too quick so i’m sure it detected on radar, satellite image or something?
